This is a pivotal new role in a leading challenger bank. Internal Audit Manager – Data Analytics, is suited to either an auditor who has strong experience working with data or an analytics professional keen to use your skills in a very different way.

Internal Audit plays an important role providing independent assurance over the risks faced by the bank. The Internal Audit team view data analytics as being the key enabler to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the function and the way it carries out its role in the organisation. Your role will be to help lead aspects of the delivery of the Internal Audit Data Analytics Roadmap (a transformation plan), which would cover audit engagements on any subject matter and helping embed data analytics within all stages of the audit lifecycle, including risk assessment, planning, execution and reporting. In addition, you would play a central role in training the business auditors, getting the business on board with the changes and establishing key links into data stores across the business. It’s potentially a career defining opportunity to get involved at the start of a journey and to play a critical role in its future success.

To be successful in the role, our client is looking for candidates with:

First and foremost, a real passion for data and how it can be used to make better decisions and provide insights.
Data and analytics experience – probably at least 5 years; you don’t need to be super techy but you need to know your way round key data analysis and visualisation tools/techniques.
Ideally some Internal Audit/assurance experience – being able to deploy your analytics skills in areas such as risk assessment, controls, assurance.
Ideally comes from a banking/retail FS background but this is not essential if you meet the first two requirements.
Collaborative communication and leadership style – you will need to coach/develop the business auditors in using data analytics, explain to the business stakeholders about the journey the team is on, deliver difficult messages and build productive relationships across the business.

Whilst this role is at manager level, there is a clear succession path for the right candidate to progress to the next level.
