Our client, one of the largest providers of insurance services in the United Kingdom and a FTSE 100 business, is looking to recruit and experienced Data Protection SME in this Group-wide Head of level role following a major acquisition in 2018, and in preparation for continued growth in the wider business. This role is a key hire in managing and developing the Data Protection team and helping the leadership team achieve their DP objectives, playing a crucial part implementing and maintaining a strategy and framework for managing data protection..
Based in Edinburgh or Birmingham, worked flexibly between home and the office
Key responsibilities include to:
Be responsible for driving data privacy compliance within the Group, setting and driving the data privacy strategy, implementing best practices and ensuring that a privacy by design approach is embedded.
Be accountable for and lead on data privacy activities within the Group, providing expert guidance on data protection laws, carrying out data protection impacts assessments where required and working closely with the operational areas to deliver the best outcome from a privacy perspective
Provide leadership and line management to the data protection team, sharing knowledge, coaching and mentoring the team
Act as the point of contact for employees, customers and appropriate supervisory authorities on data protection matters
Deliver the policies, procedures and training materials needed to support the ongoing development of the Groups approach to data protection
Own, identify and advise on data protection risks, such as risks related to major projects, supplier relationships and third parties data transfer. Develop and implement data protection reporting metrics to ensure senior management are informed on privacy risks and issues.
Oversee and support the resolution of privacy related issues that arise , including audit findings,, responses to subject access requests, data protection complaints privacy impact assessments and data breaches
We're looking for:
Demonstrable experience in implementing data protection in a complex operational environment
Demonstrable experience in supporting business change in a complex environment with data protection at its core
Expert knowledge of national and European data protection laws and practices including but not limited to an in-depth understanding of the GDPR
Highly developed decision making skills, with the ability to justify decisions taken to senior managers and technical teams.
Strong stakeholder management skills at all levels and strong interpersonal and communication skills
