This opportunity has arisen with a high profile organisation going through a transformation to optimise the provision of risk, compliance and financial crime subject matter expertise across the 1st and 2nd lines of defence. This newly created 1st line role – Operations Control Function Senior Manager – will head up a new 1st line operations risk and control team. You will quickly establish the team as the go-to for all operations control issues and will help foster a risk aware culture through ongoing education and training cross the function. Reporting to the Exec Director for the Operations Division, you will work closely with the senior management team to maintain an accurate and complete divisional risk profile.

You can do a combination of working from home and the office – some smart diary management and prioritising will be key in this newly created role standing up a new team!

Responsibilities include to:
• Lead the directorate implementation of the Risk and Compliance Framework and the roll out of the GRC system
• Build a professional control function that supports the safe delivery of directorate strategy.
• Ensure ‘trigger events’ such as issues, near misses, audit actions and breaches are captured, assessed and learned from
• Develop, implement and run a robust testing regime across Operations to ensure continuous improvement
• Own directorate risk and compliance governance ensuring the provision of targeted reporting to role holders, management and SMT to facilitate analysis and discussion
• Create and hold the register of compliance obligations
• Represent the directorate across the company and at key risk fora such as the Compliance and Policy Working Group.
• Coordinate the directorate’s response to outstanding audit recommendations and act as a conduit for delivery of internal and external audit activities.
• Organise and drive the success of the directorate risk committee
• Monitor the completion of mandatory training for Operations colleagues

We're looking for:
• Experience of influencing senior stakeholders.
• Experienced in risk reporting and data visualisation.
• Experience with GRC / Metricstream (or similar database).
• Leadership role in a risk management / control function.
• Experience of building a team.
• Experience in control definitions based on industry best practices.
• Ability to employ collaboration and pragmatism in delivering change.
