Financial Crime team-build in Scotland – senior hire leading a new team
Our client, a large UK Retail Bank, are significantly expanding their Financial Crime Assurance community in Scotland, following a restructure to help them become an industry leading model for Financial Crime management. This includes this key hire, a senior manager with strong financial crime experience gained in an assurance or audit role, coupled with excellent leadership and stakeholder management experience. They are keen to make Scotland a key centre – using your FC expertise you will help shape the execution of the Financial Crime Compliance agenda and influence the senior management team. This is a great opportunity to join and shape a best in class team!
Importantly, for those not based in Glasgow, they have fully embraced flexible working, allowing team members the flexibility to set a pattern that suits them. The teams focus is on output rather than when or where team members are working.
Responsibilities include:
Creating the annual risk-based FC Assurance Plan and any required periodic refresh to ensure the plan is focused on the areas of greatest FC risk
Executing the program of assurance activities to deliver against the approved assurance plan
Owning and improving the risk-based assurance methodology and ensuring consistent performance of assurance across the team
Communicating results in a manner which allows recipients to understand the assurance performed and findings for management action
Ensuring the team has the required training, skills and experience required to deliver the assurance plan
Driving the quality culture in the team, taking steps to improve the quality of assurance records and outputs including coaching of team members

Proven experience of leading FC Assurance, Internal Audit or Compliance Monitoring Teams in a banking environment
Excellent understanding of risk management systems and controls and an ability to assess their effectiveness
