Brilliant opportunity with a high profile bank for an experienced Senior Manager to build and lead a new Risk Insight and Analysis team. You will be responsible for developing a ‘data first’ approach to oversight, that will support risk teams in being able to interrogate, understand and link different data sources to provide greater insight and understanding of risks, controls and the wider risk environment. You will be responsible for first recruiting and then managing a small team to deliver and embed the ‘data-first’ approach.

Key responsibilities:
• Develop the ‘data-first’ strategy for the risk function that is understood, embedded and delivers enhanced oversight capabilities, delivering multiple risk insights and efficient working practices across the function.
• Identify and understand the key data sources that will support the data-first approach. Secure access to data to allow the structure, build and linking of datasets, while protecting data integrity and maintaining compliance with the Bank’s data policies.
• Develop and implement tools (such as visualisation tools) and techniques to generate and illustrate insights to the risk and control environment.
• Work with the key risk stakeholders to understand the risks they oversee, what data will be potential sources of additional insight and work together to develop hypotheses that can be tested.
• Utilise available Management Information, reports and other data sources to develop, test and run your own hypotheses to interrogate data sources and drive risk insights.
• Educate Risk colleagues, improving their ability to identify instances where ‘data-first’ techniques will provide potential insight, driving demand into the area to test new hypotheses.
• Lead and manage a small team to deliver the ‘data first’ strategy.

Required skills/ experience:
• Strong analytical and data management capability.
• Coding in using one or more of SQL, R, Python, SAS.
• Experience using Power BI or equivalent.
• Relevant and proven experience in an analytical role, ideally within financial services
• Experience of line management.
